I notice that unlike in the fixed wing world, there seems to be no contest for the trike configuration in pusher designs. In fact, I have never seen a tail dragger pusher gyro.
On the other hand, many of the military choppers have gone back to the tail dragger layout, and I notice that they commonly take off down the runway rather than verticly. The transitional takeoff being safer, so its not like they dont use them.
Adjacent to this, the tractor planforms are without exception tail dragger layouts.

Very interested in what people think of these observations.

The Bensen configuration is a tail dragger when it needs to be... during takeoff rotation and landing flare. A long tail cone isn't very practical on a pusher gyro because the propeller is in the way of the structure. We're limited to a small-diameter tail tube, which makes a poor beam. Using a pure taildragger arrangement with a very short tail beam will make ground handling extremely difficult.
