When is the 2004 El Mirage event scheduled? Paul Plack, Todd Powell, and John Landry were thinking about making this. I have been thinking that this would be an interesting event to try to make.
It is looking doubtful that I'll be at Arlington this year but I would love to try to make it to El Mirage.
So, what are the details? Never too soon to start planning.

Gary,
I haven't been able to find the dates yet. Hopefully someone will post them or provide some information. I think John said its usually the last weekend in Sept.

Hi all - My name is Dave Bohler. I've been a "lurker" for some time now. I really haven't had much to offer, as I am not (yet) a pilot, and only last month had my first Gyro ride (what a great rush!!). I got hooked enough that when I get my finances available (read - win the lottery) I intend to obtain training for flying general aircraft in general, and gyros in particular.
I'm a Mechanical engineer and am very interested in many of the technical posts. The subject matter is fascinating - there seems to be still a lot to learn and apply to current gyro design to improve them and make them safer. Quite a challenge - You guys definitely seem to be in the fore-front of that effort -
I am located north of San Francisco, in California. Recently I saw a comment in the forum about a fly-in at El Mirage, Ca. Can anyone give me any further information about this event (when, contact, acommodations, etc.?)
Thanks and thanks for all the good information this forum is providing. You could not get this kind of info anywhere else, especially with all the humor, give and take, and irony included.
:)

Dave,
Welcome to the forum. No One seems to know for sure when the El Mirage Fly In is. I just sent an e-mail to Dan Donley, hopefully he'll get back to me so we can get the dates. Usually its towards the end of September.

Thanks Todd - I appreciate the quick reply. I guess I'll just keep alert for news on the fly-in. We have friends in the Palm Springs area and were considering a vacation drive down that way - We hope to take in the El Mirage fly-in while we are in the area.

I just received an e-mail from Dan Donley. The fly-in is always the last full weekend of September. This year it will be September 24-26. Lets start planning.

Jim,
Been there , did that. El Mirage was great this year. The weather was great for the weekend, best in years with almost no wind and clear skies. Lots of flying fun. Many photos wer posted earlier I believe.

By default, the software will only show you the active threads from the last 30 days. You can go to the bottom of the page and change the display options, just change it to last 60 or 100 days and you should see the El Mirage threads. You can also use the search option.
