Hello. Through a friend of mine who used to fly gyros, I have found myself becoming more and more intrigued with this form of flight. I am currently in the market for an aircraft, and gyros are high on that list. With any luck, I may have my first gyro ride this weekend.

I am a former licensed sailplane and fixed-wing pilot and currently fly Powered Paragliders (PPG). I have been flying PPG's for nearly 5 years now, and although I completely enjoy PPG, I simply may be ready for another change. I also miss flying 2-place aircraft. So, I am giving gyros serious consideration and possibly obtaining my gyro endorsement and hopefully a tandem machine.

I live near Dayton, Ohio and would love to talk gyros with anyone willing. I'm glad to be a part of this site and look forward to possibly becoming a fellow gyro pilot.

Thank you,
Doug Gaudette

Helo Doug,

Welcome to the forum.

You are at the right place. Keep searching, you will get what you want.

I live in Pakistan and fly an Air Command 582 HTL gyro. I have also flown the Magni M16 Tandem in Joberg South Africa.

Goodluck and Best Wishes.

Doug, I'm a gyro instructor and would be happy to get you flying, but I live in northwestern Vermont, a bit far for you. Check the gyro instructor lists posted elsewhere on this site or at www.pra.org for contacts near you. Plan to treat yourself to a trip to Florida in early April for the Bensen Days flyin. You can see and try many types of gyros there, beside meeting all the characters.

Open-air aviation gets kind of unappealing this time of year up north, but a few lunatics do fly their lawn chairs all winter.

Ed Alderfer is down near Cincinatti, I don't know if he still instructs/gives rides. You can find him in the Rotorcraft directory I'll bet.

Hello Doug.

Thankyou for your PM.

I have seen Air Command 582 tandem, the CLT upgrade is excellant and very
stable and requires a bit less power then the HTL configuration.

I second Doug Riley, good suggestion.
If Ed Alderfer is nearer, he can also assist in upgrading.

I travel to South Africa to get check rides and license renewals.
