Yeap! :) It is too bad the guy was slow with the camera, we did all the cool stuff just before and after we got in the cameras view apparently.

It must have been a slow day in Aiken last Saturday.... ;)
Frankie, I was waving at the crowds, not flapping my arms! Just showing how easy it is to fly these wacky things! :p

It certainly had a positive spin on gyros. That will add interest to our sport. Good job at promoting your web pages as well.

Ron, Great Job! I can't believe that Chris Williams looks so much like you. I thought that was you in the interview. Must have been mistaken. Any PR is better than none. Keep up the good work. Thanks!

Ha Ron, be will to bet that Scott or Chris can ask the station that shot the video for it and you can see all of it. Past history I was in news behind the story all I had to do was ask but dont wait long.

Frankie J,
You asked "how did you get the press there?" The media coverage was the responsibility of our PRA Chapter 13 Treasurer, Ray Pierce. He did great! Not only did we have the TV coverage but we had articles and photos about the fly-in on two separate days in the Aiken, South Carolina, newspaper. And then the big newspaper in our area, The Augusta Chronicle, had a story and photos on the front page of its Metro section on Saturday, October 8th. The large photo showed Ron Dobbs, of Foley, Alabama, attaching his rotor blades. The smaller photo showed Tim Verroi, one of our Club members, from Beaufort, South Carolina, preparing to take off in his gyro "Angel Baby."
Ray Pierce, besides setting up the electrical system, also drove the tractor pulling our "people mover", a 20 foot flatbed trailer with seats, used to haul people from the FBO and parking area almost a mile away, to and from the ROC site. Ray also led the cleanup crew on Sunday -- taking down all the ROC stuff.

Here is a link to the article (includes photos) in the Augusta Chronicle. It was on the front page of the Metro section on 10/08/05
Augusta, Chronicle 10/08/05 story on ROC 2005 (http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/100805/met_5386179.shtml)
I can't post the links to the Aiken Standard articles since they require me to pay an online subscription fee. The Augusta Chronicle articles did not require a fee.

Yikes, John...
The Augusta Chronical site is "free," but their privacy policy says they'll use your e-mail address to send ads. No thanks!
Glad you guys had a good event, and good coverage. It's one of the upsides to holding a fly-in in a small town on a weekend...it will be the most visually-interesting story they have to cover!

PW,
You wrote "Yikes, John...

I presume most commercial Websites "suck up" your e-mail address when you visit them. At least the Augusta Chronicle said it would in its privacy policy.
For those who do want to see the article, you could right click and copy the newspaper URL for the article. Then save it or print it out and use an anonymous computer (such as those in libraries) to view the article.
Or if the newspaper just asks for your e-mail address, then give it a false one. There are many other ways, as you know, such as just changing your signature/e-mail address in the Outlook or other e-mail program, just for this occasion.

Good!
It works!
Everytime I go there it automatically logs me in and I don't remember my password. If I delete the cookie for that I'm cooked.
Here's a tip....if you want login username and passwords then go to this site.
http://www.bugmenot.com/
Just follow the simple directions.
It works for most major newspapers or sites requiring logins.
