Greg, that is a very nice looking machine.

Ken, I know you have tried several different props over the years. In your opinion, which prop do you think would perform best on my machine, and how much better do you think it would perform over the 3 blade Warp? The engine is a 618, and I am limited to 60 inches.

Indeed it is a pro picture!

I have it in my screen saver, emailed it to everyone I know and printed a copy to hang on the wall. Thanks again!

Two place is showing improvement. I hope to ask for an airworthyness check sometime after Bensen days. I still have some cooling and prop-mounting issues to deal with though.

Looks like you will be flying soon. Are you going to B-days??

Yes I'm going to be at BD even if I have to quit my job
Ihope to have my machine ready in week and have someone test it before I start training in it I'm bringing it to BD's finished or not.
I was working on it in my basement but it was too hard to get out by myself so it's at a friends place and he is helping me with it. but I only get to work on it on weekends now.the only thing major i need is Blades

I hear you on the weekend work. I only get to work on my 2-place about 1 weekend a month.

Doc John had two sets of blades in the fall. I think he was trying to make up his mind on which set he liked best. You might want to send him an email to find out if he has decided and wants to get rid of the other set.

If you get blades maybe Gary can help you trim it out at B-days?

Chuck Irby, you asked about the best prop for your 618, limited to 60 inches.

I have investigated many props but only actually owned three: Warp Drive, Powerfin and the Sport Prop. By far the best is the Sport Prop - more thrust and quieter than the Powerfin and warp drive and smother operation than the heavier warp drive.

The only advantage to the warp drive is that it is stronger/harder and will not chip as easy as the lighter Powerfin and Sport Prop. I personally would not want to use a Warp Drive or a Powerfin.

At this time I believe the best props include: Arplast ecoprop, DUC Prop, Kiev Hot Prop (wide) and Sport Prop. The DUC prop is however only made 68" in diameter. The Arplast is rather expensive but has a good world wide reputation. The wide model Kiev prop looks real good to me, which I may buy for my gyro. http://www.kievprop.com.ua/

Opps! I just found that the Kiev Prop does not come less than 63" in diameter.

Ken,

I appreciate that information.

How much more thrust do you think I would get from the Sport Prop? 5%, 10% or ?????

Also, does Sport Prop build only one size blade like Warp Drive, and then cut them to length, or do they build blades in various lengths?

Thanks again, Ken

Sport Props are built to length. They can not be cut shorter, as they have a special curved tip which is the main reason for them being so quiet.

I looked at the following site:

http://www.woodcomp.cz/indexe.php?template=a_k1.html

and iooks like the Sport Prop is 53" or 63" plus. No 60" prop. Sorry.

There is a brand new Sport Prop on eBay that is 65" at a great price - for someone else perhaps.

That's dissapointing, Ken. Thank you very much for the info.

And Warp Drive props can be fixed with super glue and baking soda. No need to replace blades just cause of a little nick or chip in the leading edge.

:p It's ready to go!
Davie spun up the blades and ran it down the drive and said if he had another 1000' he would have picked it off the ground!
