What is drop keel? I already know the benefit of drop keel,
But what do they do to the frame to make it drop keel? ???

you cut after the mast cluster plates and drop the keel . remeber since the engine is inline with the pilot the prop is too close to the keel so you have to drop the keel

Jose,

Please refer to the following gyro's; Hornet, Dominator, SparrowHawk, and some Air Commands.

In a nut shell, the pilot is raised, which also raises the aircraft CG to be more in-line with the thrustline. The tube the starts in the nose of the gyro and extends aft to the tail is called the keel tube. In a drop keel gyro, this tube is configured in an offset manner, making the aft portion of the keel tube lower than the forward portion.

Jose:
It goes like this . . .You are in a rush, trying to make it for Sun-N-Fun, over worked and a little distraught.
You aproach the keel that is standing in a corner and try to pick it up, loose your balance and down the keel goes.
My pinky toe hurts like hell and it is purple! ;D
Just kidding!
It is just a term picked to represent that "step" that differenciates the straigth keels like in Bensens and others from the CTL's like the Butterfly and Dominators and Air Commands (actual)
It really should be steped keel, because it is the front that goes up, thus bringing the pilot and a lot of stuff close to the CG
thanks
