Has any one, or does any one know if its possible to put a canopy or cabin onto a bensen?? I would like to put one on that looks similar to the skydancer or similar to the magni.

Any thoughts

Do you mean a "pod" like an aircommand or dominator, Not a fully enclosed cabin?

Just a thought, yesterday I saw a old motorcycle with a sidecar on it and I know it could have some sort of fab work done to it and it will be able to fit a gyro, how much work, I dont know, how ever it's a thought.

I know in reading Bensen's book, he said that was a no. Caused yaw instablility in the lower speed range.

There is a pod for the Bensen type gyro. Look at the Manuf. page of the PRA web site.

Marion Springer has a very interesting story on that subject!

I had a look on the PRA site. Couldn't find any info on the pod for the bensen.
If you know the details. please let me know.
Thanks

This is the link. If you Go to the PRA web site, then other information, then towards the bottom you will see a link for Rotorcraft Companies and it will give you the different Manuf of Gyros and their kits. There is a picture of the Merlin M.

I have a Benson with an enclosure but no doors. I don't know what kind it is, but it isn't a Falcon. If I can get pics of it, I will post here. I am actually a little too tall and too large for it, so I don't know what I will do with it now. The Benson is stripped down and repainted, but not put back together yet, but the enclosure is still on the keel.

I forgot to add that I was told not to install doors on the enclosure as Bensons do not fly well backwards.

For a (modified) Bensen with a pod look at:

and no, they don't fly backwards!

Hi Steveb
If you will notice, I said I had an enclosure for a Benson, not a pod. My enclosure is sort of like the Falcon, but not quite. BTW, a gyro certainly will fly backward, most of the time by accident. If the side area is greater than the Vertical stab area and you get a cross-wind, it will flip around and fly backward, that is with doors attached.
