I was looking on a local web site, and it looks like the road on to the El Mirage lakebed has finally been paved earlier this year. Anybody have any info on this? This sure would make it easier on the vehicles coming in.

Scott, The entranace road on the S E end of the El Mirage dry lake has been paved and is open.
The bad news is , the entrance road on the west side of the dry lake that goes past Brock's place has been closed permanently .
Two property oweners adjacent Brock have lake access gates on their property . They are the SCTA ( the race car people ) and George Callaway . I have no idea if they would consent to others using their gates to reach the fly-in site on the lake .

Thanks Marion, I always use the S.E. road anyways and enjoy the ride across the lakebed. It was kind of a joke that an estimated 125,000 people a year used the entrance road to El Mirage, but it never was paved. I am not going to miss that "washboard" road anymore, it will cut 15 minutes to getiing on site at least. Maybe I can top my "best" motorhome top speed of 106 MPH on the lakebed this year!!! Looking forward to seeing you there. How about bringing a few copies of your book out to the lakebed? Come look me up if you do.

Scott, 106 MPH IN A MOTORHOME ? And here I thought you did all your flying in helicopters and gyroplanes !
I hope to be at the fly-in but it depends on my daughter Coby . She is in the hospital ill with cancer . I've been up in No. Ca. with her most of the time for the last month or so until a couple of days ago and will be going back soon.
Coby , can use good thoughts from everyone .

Well Marion, I'm just practicing for when the SCTA opens up a "motorhome" class for speed time trials(with and without trailers being towed). That lakebed is smoother than any road around, and is kind of hard to run off since it is more than a mile wide. By the way, the lakebed speed record just over 312.100 MPH. I think I may need to streamline the motorhome to get near that.
Sorry to hear about your daughter, and my thoughts will be with you both. Hope time permits you to still make an appearance if things work out.

Any prayer on earth comes from a sinner, and it is good if it comes from a heart that truely believes in and loves Jesus.
I have personally seen many miracles in the last few years and will see many more.
I am praying for Coby and I know my prayer is good.

Scott,
Maybe you can use the engine on your gyro to give a little more push!!.. heh.. Man.. I'm psyched about El Mirage. Looks like we have quite a crew from PRA-5 coming down though the number of gyros is not certain.

I just realized how far you guys are coming from. There are two "woodland" towns in California, the other is near Visalia about 1/2 the distance you guys come from. The guys that are flying are real aviators! Hope they have good weather and a backup plan/trailers available.

I wish I could make it out there. I think that Fly in would be a blast to say the least!
One year you'll see my smilin' face for sure.....

My son is a little over 3 years old now, and the wife and I are bringing him to see the Gyros fly Friday and hopefully Saturday. Should be fun for all.
