Okay so I know some of you are sitting on the fence not sure if Bensen Days is worth the trip down. I figure why not post some pics to get some excitment going. These pics I have posted before, most from last years fly in. Good ole Charlie was in a few of them..... Going to miss him this time

Another pic, by the way it was the one day we got rain out of the 10 days of the fly in that these pics were taken. We still flew a bunch between the rain showers

Here is a pic taken from the awards dinner last year. In this pic you got Todd the owner of this forum - on the far right - and Chuck Bevitt - middle - and Curran the Preacher all talking about how nice the food was....

Thanx for the pics Ron.
The reason I haven't committed to BD's is due to some health related problems with my mother and dad. They live in town and I live just four and a half miles from them out in the county. They are both 86. I normally try to stay within a few hours from them. They are why I moved here from Texas a few years ago.

Great pictures! I can't wait. It will be my first B-Days.
I wonder if I will have internet access in the tent?

Hey guys, at BD's, are there any vendors there with goodies for sale?
GyroRon
03-16-2004, 05:42 AM
Yes Chuck there is always lot's of goodies for sale at Bensen Days.
Tim when you coming down and how long are you staying?
Chuck Irby
03-16-2004, 05:48 AM
Ron, If I could be there for, say only three days, when would you suggest that I be there? In other words, what three days would typically be the best?
Chuck Irby

Ron,
In your first posted pic, is that Carl Schneider's machine, 3rd from the left?
GyroRon

Either Wednesday Thursday and Friday, Or come Thursday through Saturday.
sunday is always a ghost town, but since Easter sunday is that sunday, I feel a lot of folks will pull out Saturday morning instead of the usual sunday morning. I am leaving with a large group on saturday headed for home.
So I think Friday will be the last big day of flying. Of course Saturday and Sunday there will still be people there and still be gyros flying, just not as many. Maybe next year Sunstate will pick better dates for Bensen Days 2005 so that it doesn't fall on a holiday, and maybe so people won't have to choose between Bensen days and Sun n Fun for their time off and be able to go to both if they overlapped a little.

Carls machine is the second one in to the right - next to the green dominator - and is easily identified by the bicycle front wheel.
I don't think we will be seeing Carl this year at Bensen Days.
Chuck Irby
03-16-2004, 06:05 AM
Ooohhhh, yeah, I thought there was a black one, then a green one, then Carls. Yeah, his machine is unmistakeable. I met him and saw it fly in Bastrop, Louisiana a year and a half ago. It'll move, and he's a great guy.

Chuck Irby

Harry, I guess that's in your back yard. Are you just going to fly over there? How far is it from your airport?

Glad to Post that Sun & Fun will be starting on April 13 thru 19, 2004. EAA again has changed the dates. So when we shut down on Sunday April 11, 2004 there will only be Mon/Tue to wait to attend Sun&Fun.
Hope this helps some in their plans to attend BD Days.
As for the Dates for 2005 we will post them after May 2004.
See All Soon, MJ :)

Chuck;
It's about 110 miles and I could fly but I never have done so. I usually drive down on Thur. and drive home that late afternoon. I'd like to meet ya'll, if at all possible. That's why I suggested nametags.

PS. I have my ration of beer after I get home. Just one of those occasions that happens after 1700 hrs.

Tim we can figure out a way to work everything out, But I am packing up and hitting the highway sometime Saturday April 10th. So the only problem will be where to sleep if you stay till Sunday morning. I am sure we can work it out though. Wish you could bump the date up one day and come on Wednesday and leave Saturday.
On another note, I just watched Dan Donely's video Bensen Daze..........Now I am really pumped up for BD's 04. ;D

Oops I ment Sunday 11th.
I watched the B-day tape yesterday. I can't wait. ;D
Ron,
Sat night is no problem. The car will work out fine. I almost made it to Eagle Scout, a car is luxury compaired to what I have seen.

Okay whatever works for you. I am bring two tents and one is a older small tent, just in case we end up with a few more people wanting to come down like your doing and staying with us. I could leave it with you for Saturday night and you can give it to Mj or someone to keep for me till the next fly in. Or sleep in the car...... ;D
Did you see me singing at the end of the video?
Chuck Irby
03-18-2004, 02:33 AM
Harry, I think the name tags is a good idea. Per Ron though, if you leave at 1700, you miss the best part. Besides, you could bring your ration of beer with you and just stay the night.

Yes, indeed. You did a much better job than I could have.
I played the video to the Cincinnati Ultralight club last night. Much amusement.

That was a great video, Dan Donley has a hell of a sence of humor! I like the shots of flying low over the fields with the Gator trying to bite the gyro flying by.
That was me Jamie Bodie and Maxie Wildes singing that Karaoke at the end. That was a great fly in, lots of new faces last year. Looks like this year will be better.
Last night in Chat Jose from P.Rico who is the most gyro bug bitten person I have had the pleasure of talking to said he and his instructor will be there.

Todd, just to set the record straight, I believe the Dom that you identified as Tom Milton's, is Tom Carlisle's from New Mexico.

Dean,
You are absolutely right, I went back and changed it. Thanks
