My Falcon has Hegar brakes. What fluid to they use? I don't have any info on them.

Thanks

Use brake fluid.

The Hegar go-kart brakes I've come across do NOT use brake fluid, but rather red automatic transmission fluid.

Hi Guys

I have heard that you have to use the right fluid or it will ruin the seals. I did just find a place on the net where it said use Dextron III ATF. Does that sound right??

Thanks

Hi Guys,

I replaced all my brake lines and filled them with fluid. I used the bleeder and squirt bottle meathod, but how do you get fluid into the cylinder? Mine is the one cylinder, no reservoir system. There seems to be no way to bleed the air out of the reservoir. Do I have to remove it from the joy stick to fill it with gravity???

Thanks

There should be a bleeder valve somewhere on the master cylinder.

Thanks Ron,

I didn't get to work on the brakes tonight, I rebuilt the Holly 350 instead. I'll work the brakes again next because my intake manifold gaskets didn't come in ???

Thanks

Hi All,

Eureka! I found it :) I got some guidance from the guy who built my gyro of all people ;D. What you do is take the handle loss from the joystick, remove the pivot bolt from the brake handle. The pull the piston out of the sleeve. Who would have thunk it. The piston has an O ring on the bottom. Pretty simple 8)
