I have one of those dune buggy type seat tanks. There is a brass fitting that is threaded into the bottom of the plastic tank. It is leaking were the fitting is threaded into the plastic. To make a permanent fix, will JB Weld work? I have used the stuff on model airplane fuel tanks and engine mounts, and it worked great while being coated in high nitro fuel. If not that, what would be best to do?

Paul, I've had better luck with J-B Weld than with the white epoxy from the boat store that's specifically sold for repairing plastic gas-tanks.

Paul. yesterday I drilled and installed fuel fittings in my 7.5 gallon seat tank for my Monarch Butterfly. I used Permatex Moto Seal gasketmaker. Resists gasoline...seals in 20 mins. Permatex part # 29132.
Monarch progress has been slow as we have had 23 days in a row of 104+ temperatures.

My tank weeps at the same place. It is much harder to get it to stop now that gas and oil have been on it for weeks. Best to use what ever before you put gas in it. let it set for more than a day before you put gas in it.

I will let it set up for a few days. If I use JB Weld, how well does that stuff stick to the plastic seat tank?

I found that it adheres well to just about anything I've tried.

Call Ernie Boyette,
He has a fitting, rubber that will seal the tank. Then the brass fitting pushes up into the tank. He may sell you the parts or tell you how to get them

If your looking for the tank bushings try a lawn mower shop. Not sure for which brand of mower, but the man at the mower shop in Wauchula said they are pretty much universal. $1.87 a piece.

CPS has the rubber bushings 10 for $2.99. I bought 10 even though I didn't need that many but it is nice to have some extras to experiment with.

Well, I went the JB Weld route...it looks good, no leaks. If for some reason that doesnt hold up, I will go the rubber bushing route. Thanks for all the info.

The JB Weld application went well. I flew the gyro this morn...did a ten minute flight, landed, gave it a good inspection. Then flew for an hour, gyro is working great.

I love JB Weld. It's like liquid duct tape. :D

I bought 5500 series plastic welder and made repair on dominator
style seat tank . the method is to take small micro metal mesh and
melt into the defective and surrounding area simply melt poly weld rod like material
into the effected area. I'll try take some pic's tonight as I finish the job, looks like it's going to work.
