View Full Version : How much teeter do you need?

Simple question..... how many degrees of travel should the hubbar be able to teeter when installed in the rotorhead?
ron i believe its 9 forward AND 9 degrees aft

The reason I am asking is I have put the blades off the Black Bensen on my Dominator - 25 foot Dragon Wings - I installed those blades the same way as my old ones in other words I put the teeter bolt through the same hole in the hubbar and towers as I did with my now bent blades....
The 25 footers had TOO much teeter on the black bensen cause it has custom taller towers or something else weird about the rotorhead - can't remember exactly what it is - so on the bottom of the hubbar there is a set of aluminum spacers attached to limit the amount of teeter with these blades on the Bensen Gyro.
So when I put it on my gyro, these spacers limit the amount of teeter to around 10 degrees total.
I guess I could try a few other things to fix this......? 1. Just raise the hubbar up in my rotorhead and stick the teeter bolt through a lower hole in the hubbar Or 2. Maybe try taking these 25 foot blades off that hubbar altogether and installing them in my hubbar that my bent 24 footers were using. 3. maybe try to see if I can remove the aluminum spacers off that hubbar 4. buy a new set of blades :)
I do plan to get some new blades, but was going to wait till ROC to get them when Ernie comes up to ROC that way I save on shipping. In the meantime I want to try using these blades

How are the spacers mounted?

Psst! Ron I heard a rumor that Ernie was not going to attend ROC.
Just get Greg Spicola to bring your blades up next time he's working in the area! :D

I think I heard 17-22 degrees total teeter from air command, but you got a dominator so you might make a few phone calls.
Ernie makes noise every year about roc, and last year he was about as unhappy as I have ever seen him who knows.
anyone know if rusty nance will ever come back from iraq ?

Don't know either... he said in a email to me he has no plans of going as of right now. I sure hope he is not coming because of this PRA issues crap. and I hope it is not over anything such as which entrance to use for the motorhome etc.... I know there has been problems with this in the past. Also problems with parking spaces - heck last year even I got so pissed over the stupid parking space issues that I was ready to kill someone over it - So this year the spaces are going to be much wider and less spaces overall and I want to set up a area just for Vendors with folks like Ernie and the Starbee crowd, where these people have whatever space they need to be comfortable and easy for set up and teardown.
Anyway I need to call papa Ernie soon about my blades, so I will talk to him about it and see if something can be worked out.

Not sure I just remember at Bensen Days him saying he's not going this year. However his new stepson Ron maybe able to convince him otherwise. He has a lot of orders for blades and a few machines so he is pretty busy.

If he holds off on Ron's blades he'll have the time to come.
Ron, If the spacers are needed for the Bensen and your use of those blades is just temporary it seems the best option is to mount the blades on your hub bar and not mess with the spacers.

I need to get a set of blades (27-28 ft) from Ernie too for my LW project one of these days. I rather get them at Roc than Bensen days.

Well if enough people give him enough order for blades then maybe he can be convinced to make the trip.
