I was wondering if that is the hub bar sent by VanVoorhees. Mine had a set screw in the side for adjusting the blades for the string test and they gave me nothing but grief. I could get it set perfect and within a few seconds after spin up, they would be out of adjustment. I finally set the blades as perfect as possible then drilled and pinned them. That was the end of that problem. I would try it first and if you have blade troubles, check that first. The pinning was my last resort fix. I also drilled out the slotted bolt hole and put in the next size bigger bolt with a tight fit. I didn't like the idea of any possible slop there.

I looked at the blade adjustments. I'll probably set them and witness mark the location. That way I'll be able to monitor any movement. I also plan on putting dots of paint at each bolt and nut. If the paint cracks I need to check it. I do this on all of the projects I've worked on and it is a great indicator of any movement. Makes preflight more comforting knowing all is still tight. Thanks for the pointer.

Is that a fan cooled motor on a tractor ?

Yes I have given thought to using one of the scoop typesystems but want to see how the CHT's register first. The cowl may alleviate the air pressure problem noted in some but not all tractor configurations of the fan type system. Removing the blower cover and not having the belt will reduce weight but I'm not sure how well the scoop will work in this application. Testing will tell. I just want to get it started first. Then this beast will really start taking on a life. :)
