Does anyone know the weight difference between the Subaru 2.2 and the 2.5 ?? I realize there are different models of each, but I have been told the difference is very little. Tom T. Hall in MN

I don't think there's much if any. The outside dimensions are the same, I believe. Didn't they just bore it out and shave the heads a little for the extra displacement?

When I change from a 2.2 to a 2.5 I weighed both. 208 for the 2.2
220 for the 2.5 sohc.

I think the major portion of weight is in the cylinder heads. and slight in the block. 10 lbs diff is what I was told.

brad says 12 so I think thats right. plus the intake manifolds are diff too.

Go for the SOHC 2.5. I have heard rumors of people putting 2.5 heads on a 2.2 and getting good results.
