Hi All.

Quick question... will name tags be available at Mentone? There's a lot of Forum folks meeting for the first time there, but only know each other by their screen names (or real names). Speaking for myself, I'm sure I'd walk right past most of you without knowing who you are.

Thanks,
Brian Jackson

Brian,

I know what I'm about to say is not going to be completely accurate, and I'm sure someone will correct me as needed.

You should receive a name tag when you arrive at Mentone. I'm sure you can get one even if you don't pre-register. Just go up to the PRA office and ask for one. Since you are the person that fills out the name tag, you can write whatever you want on it, like "Hoosier Daddy", or whatever. For you and me, the forum handle is the same as our name. For others, I would suggest that their forum name be in a different color than their real name so that it stands out a little better.

I my case you might be better off.. ;) Just kidding.

You have a good idea. We forum members should put our screen names on our name tags.

I can't seem to recall if they handed out name tags or not....

Hey I agree

Due to the greatly increased activity on the forum with a lot of new members using forum names, it would be a very good idea to have both names on the tag. BTW speaking of Mentone, since it sounds like there will be quite a number of first timers at Mentone this year I would like to mention a problem that has been noted in the past. Some new members and first timers in the past said that when arriving at nite it was hard to see the Mentone airport sign so for the past couple of years we have mounted flashing caution lights on the sign, so when you are coming down hwy 19 look for the flashing construction lights and turn right (if you are coming from town) didn't mean to hijack the thread just thought it was a good place to add more info on Mentone.

Fortunately my Forum name is my given name so my name tag will be no different. Ironically I got my first name tag at Mentone '96 when there was a vendor at the airport that would make them up on the spot. Later our chapter had name tags made up with the chapter & PRA logos on it. In any case I believe you will be able to get them at the PRA office. If anyone has a concern about that then think about making your own before you go.

While, in general, I think name tags are a good idea, there are some of us that probably should show up incognito!

Name tags with web forum screen names....

At Star Trek conventions, I think these are also known as "babe repellant!"

Of course, there's never been an opportunity to test that theory at a Star Trek convention.

Or probably at Mentone, either!

Brian: Maybe instead of a nametag..we could wear something that would reveal who we were. For myself....I could adorn a nice red Parham stab around my waist to indicate who I am. :D When I pass you by...I could tap you with one of my fins.

Steve!!! Can't wait to see you. White gyros unite :)

I have been to Star Trek conventions and Mentones.

I can tell you this: Unlikely you will find many babes at Mentone. The M/F ratio is like 300:1 and the 1's were dragged there by husbands and boyfriends. I got Lisa to go one year but unless I only want to say one day that is it for her going again. She did enjoy herself and she still talks about how fun the gyros were but... you are not going to be missing anything with a double-name tag, a propeller benie and bridge-taped glasses!

Stan,

Now that would be a sight! Maybe if Ron comes he can wear a lab coat that shows his center of gravity and where his thrust line is! :D

You go first :D . I doubt many of us have recent close-up photos that they'd have the nerve to post... I know any pix of me would provoke sudden pointing and laughter :p . Although I think I'd recognize Stan at a profile view from those great pix he posts, and from that nice Parham stab that skinned my shins as he walks by.

I have been to the PRA office the last few weeks and have been helping Pam
make up everyones Info. packs for the convention. If you preregistered then yours is already done.
If anyone wants a different name card to put your forum name on just ask at the gate . I made up extra name cards.
