I'm hoping that typing this will be a theraputic exercise. The following is the result of having too many irons in the fire.
I decided to change from the redundant mast to the single mast configuration. Got a beautiful mast tube from Star Bee Gyros just the other day. I measured and drilled the four holes for the cluster plate and they matched up perfectly with my redundant mast cluster plates. Anybody see a problem? Well I did, when I looked in the tube and saw four perfect score marks on the inner walls. Note to self: When Star Bee includes a drilling diagram with the tube, there's probably a reason. Oh well, it's only money, right?

Ouch! Mark, that's a bummer. :(
Lemme see - the redundant tubes are 1/8", whereas the single mast is 3/16" wall thickness? Easy thing to do, and they do say the man who never made a mistake, never made anything.
cheers,
John

Hey flynavyguy,
I'm over here in Panama City. I bought a Brock KB-2 and I've just started lessons. Stuart lives over above Mobile and another forum member is moving to Pcola from up North (Ohio I think). When do you anticipate your gyrobee will be finished? Do you know of any other gyros over that way?

Hi Mark. Sorry to hear that... it's an easy mistake to make. But on a positive note, you inspected and caught it. Would love to see photos of your build when you get time.
Cheers,
Brian Jackson

One other thing... if you've already built your tank mount, you may need to replace the diagonals. They share a common hole with the cluster plates, which will make them a tad longer now with the thicker mast. If the diagonals aren't drilled yet, then it's no problem to just move them forward 1/16".

Pretty quick Brian. I'm impressed.
During my build, I got everything right the first time! (Liar, Liar).
Keep up the good work guys. The hive is growing!

I had a problem with my engine mount diagonals also.

Hi Tim. My completion will be based on availability of funding which is kind of scarce right now. I have a fixed wing money sponge that just went in for an expensive annual. I don't know any gyro guys around here personally, but a friend of mine said somebody up around Brewton was a gyro dealer and instructor.

Mark,
The guy up in Brewton is Dofin Frits. He's a CFI and instructs in an RAF. We go over to Pensacola every now and then. I'll let you know the next time we're headed over that way.
