I talked to several people that say that I should use a Tennesse prop 50-24 for a mac 72hp, but I have a few friends flying with 50-30. what would be the best prop size for that type of engine.

You should have enough room to swing a 52"x24" Tennessee Prop, and get ~3500-3600 RPM max.
