A few years ago I bought a Snowbird tank and never got around to setting it up. Somewhere along the way I have misplaced the instructions for hole positions for the hardware.
Does anyone out thir have a copy they could email?
And BTW. how do you keep the shavings from going into the tank when you drill and if you can't, what's the best way to remove them ?

Thanks Guys,
Jack Buckner

I just drilled holes in two new black 5 gallon tanks I added to my gyro last weekend. I drilled 1/2" bottom holes and sight tube holes in both the bottom and top. I used the rubber bushing type fittings, which I really think is the best way to go.

I think the best way to clean out the shavings is to tap and shake the tank over and over again to get the shavings to fall out of the filler opening to get as much as possible out while the tank is dry inside. Then put in a couple of gallons of water in the tank and let it flow out the new holes to catch any small items left in the tank. I did this twice. Then insert the bushings and fittings and let it dry for several days before you add gas.

P.S. if you use a sight tube use polyurethane tubing only. You can get it from Aircraft Spruce. Don't use poly vinyl chloride (PVC) or vinyl tubing!

To catch the shavings, apply a good amount of vaseline to the end of the drill bit. Drill a little, remove drill, wipe off end, reapply vaseline, drill a little more. Keep up the same process. I'm sure you get the idea. ;)

Thanks Guys:
Ken:
I got the installation kit from Tom Milton so I'm sure it's the right hardware.

And Chuck, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot.

If you used up all your Vaseline doing.....er...other things with it, any grease will work too.

Forget the Vaseline...use the cheap stuff...petroleum jelly or axle grease. :D
