Olney is about 100 miles from Fort Wort/Dallas

Olney is out in the wide open spaces of Texas in Young County. For a city that size they have tremendous runways.....Not many other places of that caliber have three hard surfaced runways...
P.S. I was born at the hospital in Olney.

Where's Texas?
It, like California, is a colony of Mexico. :D :D :D

I would venture to guess by the runway layout that this airport is a remnant and upgrade of a WWII field.

Ken, that is just a typical small airport in Texas.

Don't you think somebody completely mixed up
the numbers of the runways on the drawing ????

Don't you think somebody completely mixed up
the numbers of the runways on the drawing ????Maybe the magnetic declination was rapidly changing when they measured the runway headings. :)
That would be confusing!

I don't have enough time to plan a trip out there. Maybe next time they can post it well in advance.

Yeah typical of a small-town airport. North of Dallas (I'd have to look at a sectional chart to find it) there is a local airport that is perfectly circular ! Just a huge circle of pavement. It's origins arise from use by Naval pilots (hey! don't ask me.....Nearest saltwater is over 400 miles from there) to practice carrier landings. Didn't matter which way the wind was blowing the trainee could always land into a direct headwind.
hmmm........magnetic declination eh? Well, stranger things have happened in that area.......I told you I was born there. :D :D

Well, I would have been there with $300 in hand.....but.......Damn kidney stone episode last night kicked my butt. Had a hard time getting to sleep and was still worn out this morning......
Guess I'll have to wait until the next training conflab or seek out a BFI to put in some hours.
I still don't have any parts or machinery for a gyro, and don't want to start until I at least get in the first hour or so of instruction.

I might have gone as well, but I need more than 4 days notice.
