Does the StarBee fuel tank fit pretty close in the Gyrobee mount, or is there any dimensions that should be changed a little. Need something to do this weekend. My tank won't show up till next week, and was thinking about building the tank mount tomorrow. It would be easier to have the tank available to see the fit. If its close enough, I will just build the mount per plans.

Jerry,
I don't know the dimensions of the StarBee tank, but Dana at StarBee is very good about answering questions like this. I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call.

Jerry,
I had the same question a while back. What I was told is the tank fits very nicely in the frame per Ralph's documentation. Granted it's nicer to have the parts in-hand first, but thus far there have been no reports of dimensional conflicts. My concern was if the bolt heads would interfere in any way with the tank surface. I was told the tank's corner radii were sufficient to clear any potential chafing.

Hi Jerry,
hope this helps......built to plans, cutting 3/16 off cross beams. Snugs nice with bungee. If you follow Brian or John....it will be perfect! :D
have a good one.

OK, I'm confused now (which isn't unusual) :D . Does that mean you cut the X-beams shorter than the plans indicate? Or that the frame members are naturally different lengths because of the overlap at the corners?

Given the contour of the bottom of the tank, there is no problem with the bolt heads.

The hole-to-hole distances are all the same. The cross-pieces are shorter end-to-end so they nest correctly. The final frame should be "perfectly" square.

Hi John,
Yes thats it.....holes the same. Then used craftsman squaring clamps, like putting together a picture frame.
