If you like to see gyro pictures:

http://www.jucie.com.br

That was february 15, at Mogi Mirim airport. My machine is the second top left picture. I am the student in the gyroglider.

(I will keep the pictures just a few days, because I will change my web hosting soon.)

I wonder what the gyro accident rate is like in your area? All those gyros look well built but someone needs to teach you guys about thrust lines and horizontal stabs!!!!

You guys like those VW engines too!

Jucie,

Those are some great pictures. It looks like you have a pretty good group of gyros in your area. Ron, I think the pictures look alot like photos from any US fly-in in the early 90's. The move towards CLT machines has been gradual and I'm sure will also take time in Brazil.

Geez Ron, that almost sounded like something from Craig.......hmmmm what was that last name? ;)

Ron:
Believe it or not, PPO is a rare event here. I know of two accidents probably caused by PPO: a RAF, some 13 years ago, and an AC-4, two years ago. That AC-4 was the first one equipped with a 215 hp soob. Whith the AC-4 thrust line offset, you can bet that was not a smart move.

I think the accidents are rare because the air cooled VW performance is marginal at best and the frame is heavy.

We use VWs because we know all it's tweaks and tricks.

Todd:
I agree with you, I think the move towards CLT will happen slowly.

Ron . . .shut up and keep posting! ;D
They know about CLT and HS, they just do not want to use it!
Denial, Denial . . .
The accident with the Soob powered AC4 has been blamed in a repair done in the prop. The fin broke and hit the blade and the results are known.
But all points to a PPO.
Right now there is a friend of mine on training and got to the point of solo but, his machine eats lots of runway before it can get airborne.
My sugestion was: get down from the mountains and go to the beach. (and it is summer down there)
He remodeled and almost rebuilt his machine, without any mods and maintained original features.
What else can I do?
cheers
