Ok i figured this would be a good Topic.
Since we all Know a RAF flys better with a Horz. Stab. and there are several on the market, who is flying what type? how much did they cost? where to find them? and How does the Pilot like them?
I am sure any lurkers out there and future builders would find this info intresting.
So lets hear from you Guys that are flying.
also info on what you had to do to install them would be good info.

I fly the KJ stab...it is huge and I consider it arguably the best in pitch stability. It does nothing for yaw control, when flying with the doors installed, as I understand it?!

Unfortunately, Ken builds no more of these. There may be one or two around that are for sale...I recall someone advertising one for sale...still in the box...not too long ago.

I flew my stock RAF...no stab...for 90 hrs. before I installed the KJ stab.

I've flown this stab for over 300 hrs....with no doors...and I have to say, it is perfecto!!! :D

Any more info on it? Type of construction? How wide? how long? is it the one on your avitar? Might be willing to make one or somthing like it for my bird if need be.

Found one that someone posted up in the builders catagory:

Not as nice as Harry's, and not intended for RAF, but might be adaptable.

I don't recall ever seeing a Air Command Elite (Don Parham designed I think!)horz stab installed on a RAF. They are available so is there any reason not to use one?

I fly the Don Parham stab. It can be bought at Air Command now.

It has the vertical winglets to provide a little more tail for flying with the doors on.

Its pretty light...bolts right on. It is a leg kicker..when pushing it around.

I have never flown my RAF without a stab and dont care to. Not even as a test flight. It flies fine now and why remove some stability that I do have.

I recently bought a Retro-Composites Stab but have not installed it yet or flown with it, so I cannot make any of my own comments/opinions on it. However, I have heard very good things about it and should be worth checking it. It may very well be one of the best out there. Here is a link with the info.

That stab is essentially the same as the KJ stab that I fly. It will give good pitch stability but I believe it will do nothing for yaw control, when flying with the doors on.

The Parham stab, with the winglets, as flown by Stan and Pat, do very well with yaw control. Ask them for their comments.

Does anyone know if the Larry Martin stab is still available??

Any friendly people down here? I just got kicked arround up in the general discussion thread. I fly a Larry Martin Ultimate. It has a lot of surface. Much more than the LM bad stab. I flew the Bad stab first, but the Ultimate is a better stab with a lot of authority back there.Email Larry at earthloc@worldnet.att.net if you have interest in what is available from him. I hear real good things about the Parham stab. call Don for info on that. :)

Dean,
You saw my gyro at the Gonzales gathering this year.
I have the Don Parham stab on my machine.

I am planning to make a t-tail on my Brock KB-2 by bolting on the Air Command horizontal stabilizers they have for the single place Air Commands. I will bolt those onto my existing tail.

Yeah, but when I say recall you have to remember my age! But since I can't remember it I guess it isn't fair for anyone else to try to.
