Has anyone put a 4 placed warp or powerfin or whatever prop onto a Dominator with 582? If so, what are your thoughts in terms of performance and noise level?

Wow... very cool article. All very complex. Hopefully someone will have tried a 4-blader on their dominator.
I'd like to get more efficiency from the prop but don't have room to add more diameter.

Check out some of the Powered parachute sites.
I have seen 2 three-blade IVOPROPS used back-to-back on one of those machines.
6-blades to really get you going. Would most likely need the clutch type gearbox.

For my Dominator, 60" is gonna be it. The limiting factor is the keel clearance and to a lesser degree the clearance of the top tail support.
Right now, I'm running a 3-bladed 58" and it is pitched stupid heavy to keep the rpm where it should be. Going to a 60" will somewhat help this, but a 58" - 60" 4-bladed prop is within the inertia limits of my C-box. Of course, new hub and blades $$$$$$

Al, do you remember the prop pitch on the 68" dominator 618?

John, I would try leaving the 3 to 1 ratio in and get the pair of Ivo props like Tim mentioned. I think this will turn your machine into a climbing monster!

Weeellll.... does that mean that you are offering to provide me with the props?? :D
I think the first step is to move from the 58 to 60" and then maybe in the future sometime play with some blade combinations. When I win the lottery!!

Come on John, it is only money. I honestly don't think you will see much improvement going from the 58 incher to the 60 incher. If your going ot buy a new 60 inch prop, might as well buy a ivo then when you get more money you can buy another ivo and then you got your 6 blades.

Leave it up to Dick and Ernie no telling what we may see in the Future!

I would be highly reluctant to put a 6-bladed prop on an engine with a 3-1 reduction. Greatly enhanced chance to get that resonant wah-way from the blades interacting with the exhaust pulses. At least that's my take.
Okay... here's a question.. What would be the individual length of each blade in a 3-bladed 60" prop. Same question for a 58". The answer may be obvious, but not to me right now.

one inch longer for the 60 incher compaired to the 58 incher.
Alot of trikes are running the two ivo props. Maybe you could see what ratio they are using?

I don't know that I would have the room between the prop hub and the tail to stack two props like that....

The ivo props prop hub is half the thickness of a warp drive hub. I think overall the two ivos might be no more thick than the one warp drive.
The ivo is not a durable as a warp but it is a good prop and maybe even better for making thrust. They are ligher than a warp drive and much easier to adjust the pitch in the blades.

I've seen the IVO's and they are nice pieces of work. I especially like the pitch adjustment setup they have. Foolproof and elegant.

I have a prop question. I have a Rotax 503. I have access to a 60" 4-blade prop. I currently have a 60" 3-blade prop. Is there any advantage to trying the 4-blade? The prop has a 3100 max rpm limit.
thanks.....

I have the IVO 4 blade on my dominator 582. I am very happy with it.
This also gives you the option of a 2 blade or 3 blade without having to pony up the cash
for a new prop.
Just do it.
outermarker.....The 503 may not be able to handle a 4 blade, you'd have to put a much shallower pitch in the prop, you would have good climb, but your cruise would be slower.
The 4th blade soaks up horsepower when you are limited by diameter.
PPG's fly very slow, 5 or 6 blades are great for high thrust low speed.
I had my dominator at 96 mph according to GPS with the 4 blade, I'll pick up close to 400 rpm over static when actually flying.
