You remember a couple of years ago I unintentionally ran out of gas TWICE in 30 days. Both times happened to be over a suitable landing spot.

Me with thousands of hours and ATP A&H $ CFI II, etc. etc

That's when I invested $500 in the FS-450 flowmeter.

Yeah, but this guy was trying to cross Lake Michigan. You can't even see the other side from shore and it was almost midnight. This guy had been flying for over 5 hours. I can't see stretching your fuel while trying to cross a gigantic body of water in the dark. Those were conscious decisions to tickle the dragon's tail.

sound like he went down with his ship....eerr plane.
I mean from the report he called 911on his cell phone. so I would figure he must have still been in the plane for the phone to not get wet and still work. I guess it just sank with him in it.
