I'd like to get your opinion on Paint Schemes for my LW-4. I've narrowed to my four favorites, and please, any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
You can choose more than one.

Here are the four:

Hello John
I picked D&C becouse I like D, but change the band to a black oval with the wings inside centered in the stripe.
Nice meeting you and your daughter.

Hi John,
they are all nice, anyway, i prefer the 4th, it looks like a mustang, but the first is the more elegant indeed, the fourth mises a front racer line.
good luck for your venture.
cheers

I like D. Looks classy for a classy guy like yourself. Maybe you could put a small set of wings in the triangle behind the window.

B I think that one will look good, Plus I might actually paint it, so, there you go!

Might be able to sneak a few flames on it too!

Whatever you choose, if you want a award at a fly in.... make it fancy, glossy, and eye catching. Judges don't look at how good you built it, how nice the wiring is or the plumbing etc... all that matters is a fancy paint job.

My vote is for #1 or #2

Send an email to Chip Foose of Overhaulin fame (on TDC). He always has good ideas for the color schemes on the cars they do. Maybe you can interest him in painting your gyro!

Sorry man. I couldn't resist. And the "wings" logo reminded me of Bozo's hair for some odd reason. Hey, gotta follow your gut, huh? :)

On the contrary. When I judged at Mentone this year, I took in the whole machine, not just paint. I looked for proper hardware use, perfect safety wire, torque striped hose fitting (where applicable), neat wire bundles, evenly spaced zip ties, etc. And if your screws were all oriented in the same direction, you got extra points for "attention to detail".

Perfect paint does not make the machine. Pride and attention to detail makes the machine. Even if you don't win an award, someone will be impressed.

Don it might work that way at Mentone, but it doesn't work that way down south! I Judged at Bensen Days a the year before last, and I judged as you do, as did the other 2 judges. We were all surprised when the awards were given out and the winners were not our picks. The Winners had really nice paint jobs!

This sounds like it would be an interesting topic for another thread. I'd like to here from the other judges how they judge.

Middle one on top row - "B". It is well balanced and lines flow nicely. "C" is too blah, and "A" looks like the nose was stuck on as a separate piece. 2nd choice would be "D".

Hi,
I thought about all the glare off the cowl and top of the panel and maybe a heavier black outline on the classic swoop back on the side.

That's cool! Thanks for all the input guys. I was wondering what Ben and Scott were thinking in terms of flames and how it would look on "B."
