Anybody have a good pump style joystick they want to sell?

How much would you give me for my original Air command pump joystick? I think it bolts to the bottom cluster plates with one bolt. Just add control tubes.

I could bring it to BD's. I will take a pic if you like.

I thought the pump style were considered unsafe, or it that just the 2 place version?

I don't think the pump stick is unsafe, some may have been if they were thin walled aluminum. My new soma has a pump stick, it has alot less moving parts, to wear out and cause play, flying it is just as easy.

Tim,

I reckon if I recollect correctly (say that three times quickly),
the pump handle was considered part of the problem with the early Air Commands when they were having so many accidents, and people were advised to replace it with the walking beam type now used.

I have a factory Bensen pump handle on mine, and wouldn't trade it for anything. The pitch and roll pivot is on a U-joint with needle bearings, and the is no slop in the system. The stick ratio to head movement is very close to the Brock stick also. The main difference is that the pump handle grip has a more vertical movement in pitch.

When I'm flying my arm rests on my leg, making it very comfortable.

Thanks guys! That is good to know.

After I read the the airworthyness statement at the Air Command website: http://www.aircommand.com/subpage6.html I replaced mine with the 'brock'/walking beam style on my single place AC.

Mike, Do you have any pic`s of that factory joystick with the u-joint.I`ve seen a stock Bensen joystick in the plans but not the one you`re referring to on your machine.I have a u-joint joystick on the Gadget that is Glenn Bundys design but it`s not factory Bensen.

Rick,

here is best shot I can lay my hands on right now.
One of our members had another laying around somewhere. If I can find it, I plan to take it apart and make some detailed drawings.

Mike, Thanks for the pic! A detailed drawing of this joystick would be great for the Bensen flyers. The one thing I noticed in your pic was the cluster plates are differant from the standard ones. This means they would have to changed for this joystick.

Rick-
Please send me a copy also, although I'll most likely buy a Brock for my Bee. I'd wouldn't mind giving it a "good looking over" and save it for possible future use.
Thanks,
John

Hey Chris , yours is cleaner than mine! :D I have the same one for twice the price....I'm broke. Chris Wilson is filthy rich

BTW Chris ,you can post those pics quick but I am yet to see the steering linkage pics.....what's up with that?

Also...I think I liked my pump stick better, but after spending $400 & changing to the "new" "safer" stick, I got used to it & don't think that I will change it back. How about you?
