I just received the February issue (March 1st, it's getting closer)

My favorite non-technical article was Tim O'Connor's New Machines Report. Good work Tim. I hope this will become a regular feature.

I also enjoyed Martin Hollmann's "Barnstorming" article. I remember Martin bringing the Sportster to Rockford. IL. and the great promise of two seat training. I also remember the Sportster coming to grief at Rockford when a pilot Martin let fly the machine got behind the powercurve and splatted it on rising terrain.

I think this is the best issue to come along in quite some time.

What do you think?

Thanks Tom!

I would like to see it a regular feature also. I will post a 'roll call' here in a few weeks for the next edition.

The Barnstorming article is great. As I am so new to the sport it seems strange that there were no 2 place machines and that so many people had to train themselves or co-train in single place machines.

We have really come a very long way and achieved much. I don't think this is realized by many of us pilot-come-latelys.

I am going to try the laser-pointer trick on my gyros this spring. Neat Idea.

Not finished reading yet... Next up is Phil's article!

I agree, this issue is the best in some time and, yes, Tim, you did a good job. If there is ever a dearth of completions then "projects" are always of interest.

I think Doug's article is very relevent and well done. Martin's article, as Tim has alluded too, is the type that needs to appear often so as to provide a link to the past for our relatively new people. Ben Mullet, as always, presented an entertaining, informative and intriguing article.

Greg G.'s articles all were interesting and informative. The article on sport pilot flight examiners should be of special interest to our gyro pilots, BFIs and CFIs alike; especially since Greg mentions that the 5 day training courses being given may be the easiest way for a BFI to become a Sport Pilot CFI (SP-CFI).

And what more can we say about Chuck B.?! :)

I guess the only fault I could find was the one page article on the 'NVision Laser Scanner' press release. Any one want to explain to me why I would, or should, be interested?

I think that is cool.

I used to do some VR work but not anymore. With this scanner you can scan objects highly accurately in 3 dimensions.

For me that would be cool because then I could make easy fast DXF files and render / ray trace animations of all kinds of cool stuff.

The real engineers (Brian?TimB?) and others could use this to send the data (please correct me if I am wrong) to a CNC machine and duplicate complex parts easy and quick.

I assume you could use this scanner to reverse engineer about any gyro.

Hmmm.. Give me one of those and a day with the Gyrhino and I would be a happy man!! :D :D

I am about to start the B-8MZ article. I have always had an intrest in the semi-powered rotor.

In the B-8MZ article, it said the motor ran with CV belt drive. I did not know that. With the lightweight smaller motor we have today this could be made much better today.

I hope someone does. I don't have the skill and time for such a project now but I would be really interested in the results and buying one if someone worked out the bugs!
