This month we’ll meet at Paul’s hangar in Guthrie, OK on Sat, March 12 at 9:30AM.
The plan is to do a hang test and determine the CG on my gyro.
Also, Paul has started building his RAF so we can see how his kit is going together.
All are welcome!
Email me or check some of my previous posts for directions to Paul’s hangar.

This is just a reminder about the Oklahoma get-together tomorrow. Hope to see a good group there.
Also, remember the south Guthrie exit from I-35 is closed.

Howdy Tribe,
Alan, you made an excellent point! If you are comming from the South, get off of I-35 @ the SEWARD RD exit and go West 1 mile, then North. If you don't, you will have to go to the second Guthrie exit which is about another 4 miles North and then go 2 mi West and then go South 4 miles!!!!
Looking forward to seeing everyone. :D

We had a good meeting this morning. Did the hang test and tried to
determine the CG by 2 different calculation programs and the 2-picture
method.
I've attached the pictures; the first was taken during the hang test, and
has a vertical line from the hanging point. We then attached the hoist to a
point on the roll cage and pulled it up. There is a vertical line drawn
from the hang point. The third has both lines in the picture, and where
they intersect should indicate the CG.
Problem: there is a significant discrepancy in the results from the 3
methods. (see disclaimer in my signature block) ;)
Both calculation programs indicated the CG was 5-6 inches BELOW the thrust
line (thrust line is about even with the top longeron), but one indicates
about 4 inches farther forward than the other calculation program.
The pictures indicate the CG is several inched ABOVE the thrustline.
We were using cheap scales, and I'm sure there is some error in the photos
from the camera angle, but this is quite a discrepancy.
So what do we do with this info?
Maybe I figure it's in the middle; the CG is ON the thrustline, and say VERY
GOOD!
We had a good time and discussions.
Next month's meeting will be April 9 at Paul's hangar, 9:30AM. If Allen
gets his gyrobee and trailer together enough he will bring it down, and Paul
has his RAF going together, so we can give him some grief about every little
thing (ha). He's really making good progress.
