I didn't want to hijack the thread "Gyro Reliability ". There it was brought up using two fuel pumps. The second pump as a backup to the first.

I have been thinking of adding a second fuel pump to my SnoBird tandem gyro for quite a while. The problem is, when I went to the NAPA warehouse here and asked for a FI fuel pump, they wanted either a part # or year and model of the car. Of course I don't have either one.

The fuel pump from Hirth puts out around 60# and is regulated down to 41# before the injectors. I could order one from Hirth but of course they want "way" too much. Plus I already donate enough my money for the Hirth. :D

So long story short. Does anyone have a fuel pump make, model, part # that I could use???

Hello,

Is 60 and 41 in PSI?
Pierburg does pumps, but need to know the pressure and volumes.

Go to an off-road store and just tell them what pressure you want, etc. One near me has a whole showcase full of pumps.

Jos, Yes, 40 and 60 is in PSI.

Ken, I must live in another world because I don't know what an off road shop is. :(

I have a Pep Boys and an Auto Zone auto parts store by me. Also a couple of regular auto parts stores. I just don't remember any of them saying "off road". Must be a California thing. I'm in the Chicago area.

How about J. C. Whitney. Would they carry something like that?

J.C. Whitney would likely have what you want. By off-road, I meant dune-buggies and the like. As I recall when I lived in Chicago, there really aren't that many deserts around, so I guess it is primarily a desert activity. How about a custom VW store? There must be someone that specializes in modified "Bugs." I guess I'm spoiled out here.

Any auto shop should have Bosch high pressure fuel pumps, any car or make will do as long as that car has a fuel injected motor. The only thing is that some cars have the fuel pump in the fuel tank itself so you need a external pump.

Bosch is the correct spelling.
