My name is Zack Baughman - I'm 27yrs old, married with two young kids ages 3yrs and 5 months. I have a degree in history with a minor in museum studies and have the great luck (IMHO) of working full-time at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin as an assistant to the Curator of Collections, and serving as Program Coordinator for the Museum's oral history program "Timeless Voices of Aviation."
I've always been fascinated with autogiro/gyro history, and had the great privilege of interviewing autogiro pilot Johnny Miller in 2002 when I was an intern with EAA, which only boosted my interest in this type of flying. While working at EAA and being surrounded by people who have built their own aircraft or are in the process of doing so, I've decided that I too would like to build and fly my own aircraft. Right now I am in the process of collecting information about tractor designs, specifically the Little Wing and Pitbull types. I really like the look of the tractor gyros, I guess because they harken back to the Ciervas, Pitcairns, and others of the 1930s.
I look forward to learning more about this fascinating subject from the discussions that take place here, and hopefully I will be able to contribute something useful as well.
Best Regards,
Zack
