Thanks for the "heads up" on this .
In 1996 I called Stephen Pitcairn and begged him to bring the giro to Mentone for the inaugural convention. Stephen said it was a chore to fly cross country and that the only XC he planned was to take it to Oshkosh again and leave it there.
I asked if he would consider a stopover in Mentone (our convention is always just before Oshkosh (Air Venture) He said he would, but he didn't know when he was going to make the trip, appparently he now knows.
I have forwarded this information to the PRA. Let the begging begin.

I urge everyone who loves gyroplanes not to miss this opportunity. It is truly amazing to watch "Miss Champion" fly.

Can't be that much of a chore to fly it, I know I would not consider flying that jewel a chore. If he wants a backup pilot have him give me a call! :)

I hope he lets a video crew go along in a chase aircraft to document the trip. Hey Rotor-head, where are you? Hey Ron, could you provide a chase aircraft?

Tom,
Glade you also took the initiative to see if we can get "Miss Champion" to
the 2005 Convention at Mentone. I have been in touch with Adam Smith At the EAA museum. He in turn is in contact with Steve Pitcairn. I am hopeing we
can convince steve to fly in to Mentone on his way up to Oshkosh. He may be making the trip up in April or May. If this is the case, we would like to see if he will still make a stop-over at Mentone or Warsaw so that some film footage can be taken of the trip. I have some connections with a local film company, and will look into a documentary of the trip to Oshkosh! Anderson Films is a small, but very good filming company.
Keep me in the loop as to your progress on this very important event for the Rotor craft world !

Tim, That would be great if you could arrange for the trip to be documented. I'd bet you could raise some funds from the forum members if you needed. I wonder what it would take to get either The Discovery Channel or The History Channel on board? Anyone have any ideas?
