Here is a painbrush rendition of the mod I am doing on my Raf project. Hope it loads ok.

Larry, leave the rear end alone and raise the cabin. flip the redrive would be even better.

Your mod is a lot of trouble for little gain.

The part that would concern me is the joint right under the prop, where the keel begins to angle back up. I would think that the rudder would tend to move side-to-side more than with a straight keel tube.
