At the risk of sounding uneducated, why couldn't you use a small (52") prop on a rotax, on a bensen style gyro?? Instead of the standard 60"+ props currently used on rotax's???

you would have to find a way to speed up the prop faster than most Rotax type gearboxs and belt reductions turn at. A typical ratio for a Rotax type gearbox is 2.58 to 1. So at 6500 engine Rpm the prop is only spinning a little over 2500 rpm. this is fine if your prop is 60 plus inches in diameter, but a 52 incher at this speed is just too slow to produce much thrust at this speed. A 1.65 to 1 ratio would produce the best results with the short prop but then the prop would be LOUD and less powerful than a slower larger prop.

That's kind of what I thought, about the speed. Just curious, that's all. I have a 60" prop on mine, but it makes for a taller mast, won't fit in and out of the garage etc.

Well that is what Hangars at airports are for!

Yeah I know, I have been trying to sell my house for the last year, I found some farm property, live-in hanger with a 2200ft grass strip, Needs some work but the price is right, I just have to sell my house, Too many houses on the market around Metro Atlanta, makes for hard re-sales.

I sawed a knotch in the center top of my garage door opening to get my old Air Command into my garage. It worked well. I only needed to cut out about 1.5" high by 8" wide piece and then add a support to hold my overhead up as high as possible while moving the gyro in and out.

Don't think I haven't thought about that either. If the house wasn't on the market, I would do the same thing.
