Hi to all.
I'm a total novice with gyros but have a back ground in ultralights and gliding.
It's windy where I live so I'm looking for something that can handle the odd sea breeze. (average around 20k)
The biggest challenge so far is finding what suits.
Do you spend up big and get a flash one or do you wet your appetite on a cheapy untill you can handle a flash one
Look forward to more reading and head scratching.

Hi Gavin, Welcome to the Gyro World.

Depends on your wallet on what you start with. At least it did for Catfish (my better half). Now he Wants Santa to Bring him a Dominator!! LOL MJ :)

Gavin,

Which ever way you go be sure to get a Center Line Thrust gyro for your windy conditions (CLT). A high thrust line gyro will be more work in the wind and not as safe.

I have one of each and if it is windy the CLT makes all the dif.

Thanks guys for the welcome and feedback.
I’m checking out a Monarch Butterfly, only thing is the flight time, seems most open framed machines have about a 1hr endurance, anything past that and you have to part with the cash, big time.
I always figured if I was going to own something that would get me off the ground, I’d be able to go places. Doesn’t make sense to put it on a trailer drag it to the function then drag it home again.

Cheers Gavin :)

Gavin,

Might want to check with Larry Neal and see if he offers a larger seat tank.
