It gives me a great deal of pleasure to announce that American Autogyro Inc. has hired another full time instructor.

The new instructor will be based at AAI headquarters in Buckeye Arizona. He will work with our Chief Flight Instructor Terry Brandt and myself.

I hope you will all help me welcome Mr. Steve McGowan, formally of Georgia, as the newest full time AAI employee.

We have ordered Steve's flight suits and name tags. I understand that some of you may not recognize Steve in his new attire, but I'm certain we'll all get used to it.

Steve will soon be moving to Arizona to take on his new responsibilities. He will be a tremendous asset to our community and to AAI.

Steve is a big boy and I think he can be "Dressed Up" for this job! It will not effect his flying abilities. Steve has the unique ability to let you get very close to balling up a gyro and calmly talk you into controlling it back to normal flight. If not I have seen him pull out some pilots out of trouble.(I have been their in the front seat!) The man can definitely fly a gyro like no other, Now he will step up to the professional plate and I think he can do that very well. Good going Steve. And good choice Jim Mayfield.
My Two cents Russ Gerhardt ;D :D 8)

Jim,
I'm thinking you should set up a second operation in Macon and let Steve stay where he is! ::)

Anyone have any idea of when he will be leaving? Looks like I'm gonna have to step my plans me and "DaScrew-Driver."

I could probably fly out to him every now and again for lessons, but I'll have to take the kid ;D

The message that I take from this is not just that AAI has hired Steve, but that Jim & all at AAI continue to drive on doing what they said they were going to do: not just sell gyro kits, but build an infrastructure that will sell gyro flight as a concept.

Safely.

Others have tried this (Dr. Igor Bensen... Air & Space Manufacturing in the sixties... RAF in the nineties). I think Jim, Groen Brothers, and the staff of folks at AAI have the best shot at pulling it off. They have (1) professional engineering, (2) enthusiastic, motivated youngsters, and (3) a practical, useful, yet simple machine... everyone else that has tried this has been missing "one of the above."

cheers

Hey John, that looks like a picture from last years, "Delta, bring your kids to work day."
