I was headed for Camarillo until I checked the weather and found that they had winds of 15kts gusting to 27kts. My gust spread limit is 10kts.

It was off to San Luis Obispo on a warm, clear, calm fall day.

We had a steady eight knot wind and hardly any bumps in the sky.

We were wheels up at 12:30 and The Predator was running very well.

The warmth was a nice change from the recent cold and the ocean seemed particularly blue.

We would be flying along and suddenly I would feel a patch of warm air on my skin. It felt like summer.

As we few over the rocks at Shell Beach I saw a large gaggle of kayakers gathered together in some unknown ritual. I felt it made and interesting picture. We were at 700 feet.

San Luis Obispo ATC was having a conversation with an experimental jet who wanted to make a low pass before he landed.

Things were a little busy and my favorite controller asked me to make a short approach, no delay.

I love to have an excuse to blast around the sky. I ran her up to 95kts and headed straight for my touchdown point. We were quickly down as nice as could be. I felt it was a stylish entrance.

There was a fellow on the patio wearing a jumpsuit just like mine and he invited me to join him and his friend at their table. Turned out he was the fellow with the experimental Jet.

Joel (Breaker) Knapp is very nice and asked a lot of questions about The Predator. I asked a lot of questions about his Jet. He was out of Van Nuys and just out sporting around burning 150 gallons per hour. After lunch I got a tour of his Experimental Jet. He is ten years older than I am showing that flying can be for geezers and I have some years left to fly..

It was a very nice aircraft and I liked the way a lot of things worked. It had a cool pull down step and another step that you push a little panel with you toe to access.

He had disarmed the ejection seat but had parachutes on board. According to Breaker you turn it upside down and fall out of it if things aren’t going well.

It was designed to train pilots to transition to MIG fighters and had lots of neat little safety features.

It was very quiet and seemed fast.

We filled up with Gas at SBP and headed back down the beach to SMX. When I reported left downwind I requested left closed traffic and stop and goes.

I had the airport mostly to myself until an RV joined the landing practice.

I suspect that I have not been rounding out enough and been hauling back too hard in the flair. My 12th landing was better than my first.

I requested a straight out with a slight right and headed off to Oceano for fuel.

My friend Mitch with the Mooney was there and I met the fellow that throws people out of his airplane at Oceano. It is called Sky Dive Pismo for some reason that escapes me.

He has long been interesting in gyroplanes so maybe he will teach me to use my parachute if I let him fly The Predator.

I love the people I meet flying. In my opinion they are a cut above.

Thank you, Vance

That is way cool. Must be a bit different than gyroplanes. It seems to be a good idea though, to first own an oil field. Tying the stick forward looks very gyro-like on the other hand.
