I ran on to a new "copy" of the old Evinrude marine gas tank when I was looking for a tank to use as my oil tank on my Weber conversion. This was on E-bay and I was searching under "small gas tanks"

I sent a reply to your PM. Tom Milton sells the seat tank like what was on my KB-2. He also sells the U-tube mounting bracket for them: http://calumetair.com/tanks.php

with the braces coming down the middle of the bottom of the back seat i dont see your tank fitting with the sump at that spot. on your diagram on your web site, it does not say how far the seat extends from the front of seat to the seat backing.thanks.

The Bensen's I have seen that went to the seat tanks only used the bottom of the original seat, everything else was removed, the back of the seat tank connected to the mast.

My Bensens didn't have the forward bracing, only the two angles from the mast to rear keel. meeting the engine mount angles.
The sump extends down around 2-3 inches.
If the seat tank is undamaged, it can be returned for a full refund if it won't fit............ no problem.

Taint, You may have to fabricate some new support pieces but the U tube Tom sells for the seats will be the base you'll need. Maybe some of the guys with Bensens or KB-2's can post some photos of how their tanks are mounted.

Taint:
Where is RockyPoint, I think I have an Evenrude tank which will fit that rack. If memory serves me, I think they were 5 gallon.
There were two, on my first bensen; one on each side of the seat; they had the little push button primer on the top of the tank.
I will have to figure out the weights, and how much it will cost to ship?

I checked the lower dimensions of a CalumetAir Inc. seat tank yesterday.
The dimension from the centerline of the "U" tube forward tube section to the very back of the seat tank is around 15". The sump extends down around 1.5".
You can return it if it doesn't fit. I have sent out many a seat tank this way and never had a return.

I've always had good dealings with them.

LEAF is an option. They buy the seat tanks from me. As a gyro friend, I would suggest buying one from me direct for considerable savings.
Thanks Steve, I wondered if you were still around.

Yep, still around.
Your site lists seat tanks as $259. LEAF lists theirs at $256.25.
Considerable savings ?
Not trying to get into an argument here with you. Just stating the facts as they are on both web sites.

Leaf sells my seat tank bare except for my gas cap.
I sell the seat tank bare with cap for $192.
I sell the complete seat tank kit for $259 that includes the U tube mount, hardware and fittings.

Tom,
I went to LEAF's site and, BAM, there was the price. I went to your site and, BAM, there was the price. I didn't realize I would have to spend 10 minutes serching through your web site to find a page that has a breakdown of prices for the seat and all the individual parts.
You are correct, your bare seat is less expensive. You are also correct, apples and oranges. But....they are both fruit. So, it comes down to not only price, but who is a better fruit vendor. My original suggestion of LEAF was to give Taint an option, a different avenue in which to find the seat, and the many other parts he may need for his gyro.
Have a nice day.

I took a look at my website as well and you are correct. Thank you for pointing out the lack of information about $259.00 kit and what it includes.

Tom,
The info on your site is there. I just didn't know where to look at first. No biggie. And, as I said, you were right, your bare seat is considerable savings compared to LEAF. I bought one of your complete seats once and it was perfect.
I have a question for you. I'll PM you so as not to get off-track with this thread.
