Bow season starts Oct 1 here in Arkansas. Now I really don't need to hunt but this is eating organically or as close as I want to be. I have hogs, milk goats and I just took a cow to the butcher. I am blessed to have some land to do this with. It's all about feeding my family. Good luck if you hunt. If you don't you Are missing one of life's important activities.:first:
I hope you will be blessed on your hunt also

Thom- I love to bowhunt, but I am going to sit this year out. I am still eating on last years deer meat. Stan
Bow season already started here in ohio I got a big 12point I'm looking at this year but I'm moving and will have to let it go :~(
I got an old PSE bow but it still does the job.
I did take a turkey and a 8point last year.

Stan my bunch will go thru two or three deer in a year. Spaghetti, deer chili, burgers, hamburger helper are just a few of the dinners my wife will fix. Deer steak, roast, and barbque to name some more. I'm Hungry already.
Nice pics Gyro and the deer is great. I would be proud to take him with a bow.

Bow season starts in Texas where I hunt this weekend, too. Unfortunately, I can't get out there until Oct. 15th, so the deer will have to wait on me.
Love to hunt, but mostly just watch. I'll shoot one deer a year.... that keeps us in enough deer meat for chili and summer sausage.
I get serious about hunting from November 10 through December 1.... that's peak time in my area. Never know what you'll see running around when the rut is on.

Yep, A buddy of mine is an avid bow hunter, and He just called me up to see if I wanted some venison, His wife does not like it so he always has more than he can use, We love Bambi chili, roast, spaghetti, etc. Mmmmm. :D We feed the deer on our property but do not hunt them so they are pretty spoiled.

Paul, you've been talking about moving ever since I met you. Course I have moved since then too, and want to move again...

Yea I know....ever since I moved back to Ohio from Texas I'ved wanted to go back south. first it was mainly the weather now its to find better work.
Things are slow both in the gun work and construction. We have the house on the market and are boxing things up, and for the time being we will be heading to Texas.
Me and the wife would rather go to NC or TN but I dont know if that will be far enough south to escape the cold....I would hope it don't last six months like here.
A buddy is trying to get me in Crown and if that happens I guess we will endure a few more winters. This would also require me to punch a time clock somthing I have not done for over 22years. My father-n-law owns a plumbing company in Houston and I usally go there in the winter but I'm ready to just settle in somwhere and call it home.
Anyway we'll see how things turn out in the next couple weeks.

I would have a time not harvesting the doe. Me I haven't found a good recipe for antlers yet. But the button buck will be around for a while.

I won't pass up the doe's during Rifle and Muzzle season or when it’s a little colder. I save Bow season for the nice Bucks, this year we can take 36 total, 6 Bucks and 30 Doe. They also opened Sunday hunting during rifle for the first time. Some county's are allowing unlimited Doe.
