I took delivery of my new (to me) Butterfly Monarch today. My gyro is the one off "Super" Monarch built and modified by Chris Wilson and Larry Neal. I'm traveling to Bridgeport tomorrow to hang out with Farmer Jim and GyrOZprey. I might even get a lesson from Desmon. Larry is going to be away for the day, but if I hang out late enough I may still be able to meet him. But then I head for home Saturday. Training with Michael Burton starts Monday and I'm hoping to get some work done in the Butterfly before the end of the week.
LIFE IS GOOD!

Hi Glenn, I hope everything is well with you. I write because I own a BFly Monarch 582bh, PFin prop, G-force. So tell me please, what constitutes the "super" in a "super Monarch"? Maybe I want one. Thanks, MJD.

Chris has been friends with Larry for many years. After Chris built this one, he and Larry came up with the mods. The original engine was replaced with a slightly modified Rotax 618. The mast and rear keel are from an Aurora. It is spinning a 68" prop and 25' Dragon Wings. Stability is increased by the tail section being farther back than stock. Therefore, it's somewhere between a Monarch and an Aurora. A "Super" Monarch. It's got all the extras too, including g-force landing gear. I'm going to add the optional windshield that Larry offers for the Aurora and TGB so that I can fly in the winter. I may have to dress like Randy in "A Christmas Story", but, whatever it takes... right?

Thanks! I hope to be flying it by the end of the year. My plan is to be one of the flyers at the fly-ins that I attend next year. All of us Butterfly owners need to represent at Mentone for the 50th, don't you think? Can you imagine a formation fly-by of the whole Butterfly line for the manufacturer's showcase? Awesome.
