I noticed that most gyros have some form of plastic fuel tank. It ranges from seat tanks to modified seats construction found in the RAF & AAI.

I understand fuel cells are expensive and add weight, but has anyone considered a custom fuel cell in their gyro construction?

I know RAF at one time added foam to function similar to a fuel cell.

Hi larry, i asked the same question, months ago, it as told me that RAF offers a rash proof tank.
On my building, i planned to build one by my self.
it is feasable by molding the body around a shape with liquid rubber or elastomeric layers, renforcing it with roving or kevlar fabric drowned in the rubber, then you fill the tank with foam balls or special plastic balls. This purpose is enough to avoid explosion.
thanks

Larry, that's the crap that disintegrated once fuel wet it and blocked a lot of fuel lines. I hope that they're not still selling that stuff.
