Auto Gyro Gmbh have put up this link to an article about Police operations with a MTOsport in Texas - get them up - move them out..........

Hi Desmon,
Can I ask a question about the manufacturers serial numbers for your MTOsport please.
The Police example is N811TX - this has a msn shown as
D 10 S 03
This decodes as German Customer - 2010 - MTOsport - number 03 for 2010 ( ie I assume that this actual machine was originally built for a German client - it may well have had a "D-M....." German registration before importing into the US )
Auto Gyro gmbh use this country format of msn all over the world - for example another MTOSport is
N250TX with msn US 10 S 01
-ie US Customer - 2010 - MTOsport - # 01 for US in 2010
I notice that your own MTOsport has a different type of msn - I guess this relates to your example being a 51% kit - so for your machine N446QT the msn is shown as
10137S
My *guess* is that this decodes as
2010 - MTOsport # 0137
Question - would you know if my interpretation is correct - ie that your MTOsport is truly the #137th example built.
I note that another MTOsport is N446NH with a msn of 10138S - ie maybe #138.
The msn shown for factory built examples give no indication at all about the true sequential built number, they just show year of build and client country - those kit built msn are interesting for me as a modern aviation historian.
All thoughts welcomed - thanks

the 2 MTO sports used for the police were factory models they came with German tail numbers and re registered in the US. Mine was a kit as was the other one located in Florida and were registered in the United States first. they were sequential and shipped and built in the US side by side along with a Calidus

Actually N811TX was slated to go to South America as part of a German TV show but was shipped to the US for our law enforcement demonstration in June of 2010. It was decided that a new unit would-be shipped to South America as repackaging and shipping costs of the unit we have would be more than shipping another unit from Germany with the additional costs of shipping a future unit to the US. When the unit arrived from Germany it had a German numbers already on it.
N250PD was specifically ordered for us in the US and differed from N811TX in that it had the additional cooling cowl and the new joy stick 'handles' or grips.
