Apolagises if this has been posted previously. I looked and couldn't find.
So here you are.
Larry Neal said......
"The Aurora's thrust is 1/2" under the vertical center of gravity.
I was cruzing around today at 70 mph at 2/3's throttle. The wind screen
added about 5 mph cruise speed to the ship.
It is a totally different experience with the windscreen. No glasses, no
wind in the face, you can fly for hours without getting beat up by the
wind.
If you ever put a windscreen on an Aurora you won't ever take it off.
With this design the side area is soo small the ship flys totally the same
as far as crosswind landings."
Later Larry said.....
"Here are some more pictures. Notice how the side area of the windshield is
minimal....No wind in the face and it doesn't take hardly anything away
from the tail doing its job.
I flew it in a 50 mph wind on Sunday...no problems..."
Pics attached.

I can confirm he flew it in 50mph wind...I was there shooting video of him doing it. I don't know if I've seen it that windy in TX in the 15 years I've been here.

G'Day John,
Very cool!
Larry told me on the phone there would be some video available in a couple weeks on the website. Excellent.
I've known Larry for 8 years and never had him so much as stretching the truth. He does not release or claim anything till 'its' done, tested and re-tested, then and only then will he report on it.
I'm glad you were there and dissappointed I was not.
I am excited to see the video. Thanks.
Cheers,
Mitch

G'day Mitch!
I've only known Larry half as long, just over 4 years now, but my observations are the same as yours. Larry is focused on building safe machines that have great performance. His Metro Launch system seems to be super slick these days...he can get the blades to over 300 RPM before rolling an inch.
Yes, I'm going to try and really put the polish on this one, even if it means I need more footage and another 225 mile drive to Bridgeport.
It'll take me a couple of weeks to get it put together, I'm finishing up a couple of high priority projects for my business...but it won't take me long once I get on it.

Will it also mount on the Monarch? As soon as my Cessna sells (haven't listed yet), I'm ordering the Monarch kit and would love the extra protection. After putting a windscreen on my Harley, I never rode without one again.

Larry,
I haven't asked Larry that question specifically, but I sure don't see any reason it wouldn't. You would need to have the nose pod on the Monarch in order to add the windshield but it should fit the Monarch through the Super Sky Cycle. Best of luck and we'll look forward to you joining the Butterfly Family soon.

Larry has told me that it will work on the Monarch. I'm close to ordering one myself - a Monarch, that is. And if I buy one I'm getting the windshield to go with it.

I asked Larry a couple of clarifying questions and this was his reply:
Yes the new windshield will fit all 3 models. (Monarch, Aurora & SSC) It has added 10 mph to the cruising speed. There is no wind in the face and you don't even have to wear glasses now...
I am having the lexan part made by a professional company that also adds a space age coating that makes them scratch resistant.
The price is $695.00 plus $80.00 shipping or $775.00 delivered.
They should be ready for shipping in about 3 to 4 more weeks. It is taking longer to have the windscreens made by another company but they will definitely be worth the wait...
Larry
Hope that answers any questions anyone may have. And just in case you are wondering if Larry will sell this setup to a Non-Butterfly owner, the answer is No. He does not sell any of his componants to anyone that hasn't already purchased a Butterly Gyroplane.

Larry,
Great to hear!!! Good luck with selling the Cessna. I suspect your Butterfly will be a lot more fun to fly.

Thanks Doug. I think it will too. Gyros have been on my radar since I saw my first in 1979! I read everything I could about them and have been interested since.
