Heya,

Recently bought an Air Command 582. See avatar pic.

It came with a set of uncut wheel pants but no brackets. Does anyone have drawing or picture of the bracket?

Seems like it'd be pretty strait forward bracket but I'd like to see what others have done. It's a low rider with the suspension kit. It also has hydrolic brakes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Todd

Hi Todd,
If I remember correctly, the brackets you need are called 90 degree dogbones. They are small 90 deg dogbone looking stainless steel stampings.
I believe LEAF & Calif power have them, if not, I can find them for you.

Thanks Tom, I'll check them out.

Hey Todd,

When you get this wheel pants project completed, post some detailed pics on the site. The axle tubes and prop on my AC are being chewed up by bouncing rocks and I need something to protect the parts.
Thanx
Bill

Well, had a couple days off from work over the holiday weekend so I got a chance to work on the pants.

The brackets and backing plates are 0.7mm SS. With slots instead of holes so I only have to loosen the strut bolts to install and remove the pants. The axle extentions are 1/2" x 5 1/8" 6061. Drilled and tapped at both ends with a stud in the axle end.

Still have to drill and tap the axles. This will have to wait untill the winter no-fly zone so i can pull the axles and set them up in a drill press. Just don't have the time for that right now.

The pants are still rough cut. Need to smooth the edges and paint. The hardware isn't AN yet.

Here are a couple pics. Open to suggestions.

If I were to do it again, I'd use 1/8" rivits instead of 3/16".
