awhile back asked about putting a 4 cyl subaru in a gyro and got a 80% neg response of the idea. popular mechanics published feb. 2010 page 52. gyro instructor dofin fritts at fond du lac, Wis, usa has a rotary air force 2000 with a 130 hp subaru engine,& dual controls.editor jeff wise of popular mechanics which has his pilots license flew the gyro with the instructor and it totally blew him away with the performance .the motor had a redrive and the prop looked like a three blade warpdrive adjustable prop.:cool:every body has different opinions i guess .

Dude, either you're confused or just trying to be contrary! Here's the question you asked:

is a ea-81 subaru engine worth my time putting on a benson gyro straight drive? is the performance very good or sluggish, hard to lift off? or just to much weight.thanks
Here's your post: http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28834

Now you're talking about an entirely different class of gyros.
Just what is your point?

It is better than a Vw on direct drive . . .not as good as with a redrive on it!
After the 2.5 with mods, all others are second.
If you change category (engines) all changes.

I think the main point you are missing from your original post is that with your weight you will need a redrive on that subaru to get the performance you are looking for.
