Here's how you do it in a gyro. Check it out by magnifying the pic twice. I'm doing 60 in a slight climb at 3700 engine rpm. IVO RULES! Check out the 2nd one. Level at 3800 rpm and 82 m.p.h.
Now you can only imagine the performance you would see if you had a more aerodynamic airframe... This is one area in which AAI can really make an improvement. The rotor drag is LOWEST at about 90 MPH. Your IVO is fighting mostly airframe drag.

Good numbers Ken.......Its kind of neat getting used to something,,,and then drastically improving it. I am still on cloud 9 gaining 10 plus mph with my rotor swap...

Ken, is that snail tracks on your panel, or does that have something to do with the rats?
Whet is the rectangular instrument in the upper right corner? Thank You, Vance

Snail Tracks!!?? I'll have you know that is genuine Italian marble..........O.K., simulated in vinyl. Vance, that is a voltmeter I got to replace my steam-gauge. It works well, but unfortunately it's hard to see in the sunshine. I left it in, because the bar graphic is another reminder to shut off the master-switch before I leave the hangar.....and if I take it off, I have a wiring hole in my panel and I can't think of another instrument I'd ever need. Oh, wait. My fuel-flow meter did arrive the other day. :p

No cup-holder, Scott. I can easily hold the beer can between my legs.

Yeah, Udi. But if one wants an enclosure and side-by-side seating, I guess that there will be some compromises. I'm pretty happy with it though, and that's what really matters to all of us....right? I doubt that I'll ever be flying it to the east coast....but who knows? If I was that concerned about efficiency, I'd fly only with the doors on, and I don't like that.

Wouldn't that limit cyclic stick travel before beer-spillage?

No, fortunately I was born with a recessed crotch. My maternal grandfather had one and I guess I lucked out by inheriting some of his genes. Didn't I say I was going to the airport about an hour ago in another thread?

gorgeous panel, Ken. If you ever do fly to the east coast, drop in to N04 here in CT.
I still remember the day A Magni came in. It was the only gyro visiter we've ever had as far as I can recall. Then there were the two guys who stopped on their way around the world in a couple of trikes. They said they were stopping for a rest and minor repairs, then up the coast and on their way across the Atlantic Ocean!. That just blew me away. By the way, they made it.
I guess the gyro guy didn't complete the round the world trip, so you've still got a chance to be first.

I'm on my way, Al. Which way do I have to go? Just before 9-11, Stefanos and I flew into Lindbergh International (Class B) to do lunch. The tower didn't know what the heck to do with me after realizing I wasn't a heli. The people in the FBO were so flabbergasted to see a gyro come in that they waived the landing fee. For those that haven't sen them, there is a series of pics on my website of that adventure. I think the link is there after you click my name in one of my posts.

Ken, just follow the coast and turn right after you pass over Katherine Hepburn's house.
Here's a landing sequence I put together from stills you posted a while ago. Would have been better if you had held the camera at the same place in every shot, but oh well..

Al, I think that is very clever. I think the movement of angle is the beer. Thank You, Vance
