Note, this is not a permalink. Tomorrow when it is not the headline video I think they will have a permalink.
Is that correct Paul?

Tim, I think the link from the Aero-TV site (http://www.aero-tv.net/?videoid=ed4615b9-0c69-4f9c-aee2-6f943f1f1edc) is already permanent. (Already posted in another thread, but I like your more enthusiastic subject line! ;))

Ooops!
Well now the Bee has even more priority in the google index rankings cache. ;)

Paul, that was a great interview. Really gave us a chance to hear the man and some of the research and work that has gone into his gyros. Very interesting indeed. It appears that there is a lot of flexibility in the choices available with these machines.
His comment about one gallon an hour on that new engine really had my ears pricked up. Now that is something really special with fuel prices going the way they are.

That was a good interview and video! I played a a few times. I am still somewhat confused about which gyros he is talking about when he mentions the accident records. If it is ultralights, would there be any records?

Most accidents involving unregistered aircraft, whether true ultralight or not, don't make the NTSB database. Of all the Bee variants, I'd guess a majority never got N-numbers.
But it also seems very rare to hear of problems with any of the Bees. We usually hear about them through the community, even when they don't draw NTSB scrutiny.
I'm left with a few questions about these machines, but I am very impressed with what Jim wants to do for training. He's going for a very structured approach, which he's calling "HoneyBee University." I suspect there will be more news on that front this spring and summer.

Leigh, there's nothing in these machines which can violate the laws of physics. Burning 1.5 GPH equates to around 20 - 23 HP at a typical small four-stroke's BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption). You probably can't do that on takeoff or climb, but if it was possible flying a very light machine at Minimum Power Required Speed, it would still be amazing to stay aloft for three hours in a true UL, even if it wasn't "yankin' and bankin'."

I was really very interested in the comments on the 90HP Suzuki putting out over 500 pounds of thrust.... any thoughts on that number from the engine experts? Seems very high to me, but if it is doable and repeatable, sounds like a great option.
