Ok, silly question, but what is a prop spinner, what does it do and how does it work?

Hi Jordy....
I'll take a stab at this:
A Prop Spinner is often seen on Puller Prop applications...it's a Cone shaped Cover that mounts over the very center of the Propeller to the Hub itself. It's purpose is to smooth the air flow at the center of the hub making the root area of the Blades more efficient.
Using one on a Pusher also yields benefits in the Prop Stream...smoothing it out considerably in the center of the Airflow.

Spinners can also be a real pain in the hinny….if their attachment is not well designed for easy removal. If they are large enough though (not those little bullet thingies) and have the right shape, they certainly can help with cooling and add to the designs sex appeal….i.e. purdy….

Beauty. Thanks for the answer. I can picture exactly what it looks like now and how it could help.
Cheers All.

I have always thought that the correct name should be a hub fairing and an engine should be called a prop spinner.

From a functional perspective, that would certainly be correct!:yo:

It also keeps you from flying around with your nuts exposed to the elements.
