Scott, your new machine is going to be a classic. :)

Scott, I think this is going to be bad to the bone.
I only have one thing that I can see and that is the lower motor supports are not going to do it.
I would make the bar under the rubber berry mount longer so you can run supports back to the upper keel.

the added supports in red

Brent I have the support that goes from the keel to the mast. (red line)
you recon I need to triangulate a brace from the motor mount to the mast/keel to keep side to side motion under control.(blue line)

Scott,
Looks good- CLT, HS, all those good acronyms, and a tall tail too! Is it going to Part 103 legal? Did you happen to weigh the tail feathers? I'd be interested to know what that assembly weighs.
Alan

Well I didn't weigh the tail. I should, but I am guessing about 12 to 15 lbs.
I am presuming it will weigh around 300 lbs. a FAT ultra light. but the new engine is lighter than the old one. :)
And Jose, I'll eat a couple of cheeseburgers before I do a hang test. :D

Yes you need both the blue and red lines (supports). Your blue one needs to be about as wide as the Radiator or more.

Hey Scott,
Does your nosewheel castor freely? If it does your gonna love the individual wheel braking. Just wondering. Looks great. I will be very interested in how the Suzuki works out for you. It's gotta be better than the Italian Mac you were running before.
hey scott,
looking good pard.
scott i hope to pick up my suzuki in a couple of days

Remount the fuel pump on a cushioned mount. Looking good!
scottessex
11-17-2004, 04:16 PM
Ron, roger on the fuel pumps, They will be rubber mounted, that is just a good spot for them.
Mike the nose wheel right now is hooked up to the rudder pedals, we'll have to see which way works better.
Ben, good luck! Keep us posted.
Zeeoo, I got the engine off of Ebay, and then I rebuilt it.
And John, please be patient! the paint will come in due time.
zeeoo our motors are out of snowmobiles

Ya'll got snowmobiles over in France? We Don't have any down here in the south. So I get all the parts from mail-order over the internet.
Ben probably trips over them up where He lives.

Still Making some progress, been working on the house too. There are some things I need to get done before winter.
I am working on the gyro wiring, plumbing, fuel etc. nothing really to take pictures of. I will post some pics of the Honda Magna parts I just painted as soon as we get some sunshine. If the gyro comes out as good as the motorcycle paintjob, I'll be happy!

Zeeoo, what about Alpha Romeo flat four?
Victor Duarte
11-22-2004, 11:48 PM
Andre, the alpha engine have guts but, alas, often these guts come out, an alpha engine is a religion and you must be prepared for sacrifice :D... the last engine i would trust is an alpha or a fiat, just my opinion. German engines are fine but heavy.
I will, instead, trust a jap engine like toyota, honda or, better : a mazda rotary. The japs are well known to manufacture very small, punchy and reliable engines.
I think we can get about 100 hp from my little toyota 998 cm 3 that has 68 hp yet with a litlle supercharging.
I could also take a yamaha Fazer or a Honda hornet engine, both about 100 hp and very reliable.. the problem is that , here, yam and honda dont sell bare engines but only in replacement of broken ones. Only Suzuki sells bare new engines.
to be continued.

Well after a busy 4 days of working on the house, I stayed up late last night and worked on the gyro, got the wiring done. Today I filled the gearbox and put the last of the hose clamps on the radiator hoses. after working on the house some more,
I then put some gas in it and then drained the gas back out to fix the leaks. Nothing a little teflon tape couldn't fix. I got the Ol' suzuki fired up! seems to run sweet. :D
I ran it without the prop so I could get the idle dialed in. I still need to install the EGT probes, The electrical system checks out and the gauges work, no leaks in the radiator. 14.4 volts on the gauge at 2000 rpm. :)
So it's on to some fine tuning, mounting the prerotator and top tail supports, then it will all come apart for paint! :D :D

The Suzuki is picky about the jet size used. I finally ended up buying everysize from a 290 up to a 410. Make sure your egt is fairly accurate. This time of year I believe I was using around a 350.
