How many of you guys have installed inner tubes in your tubeless wheels ?
How did you get the valve stems through the hole ?
How many of you guys actually wear out your tires & why ?

I still have the original tires (Cheng Sing ) on my old single place. Azusa plastic wheels.
I once had flats in both mains (pinched in the wheels) . I bought an entire set of spare wheels & tires with tubes for quick fix. I then lined the old wheels with duct tape.
I have not had a flat since. The tread on these tires is still good. A little dry rot on the sidewalls now.
I may never use the replacements.
How do I wear them out ??????

Chris- The biggest cause for my tire wear was first realized on my Air Command. It was eating tires. I checked the wheel alignment and they were toed out 3 degrees. I adjusted the landing gear by moving two struts a little. End of excessive tire wear and I noticed it pushed much easier on concrete. Another thing that will cause wear are that the tires tend to stop heavy side down, and upon landing, the tires get scuffed in the same place. I would get these bald spots developing from this. Stan

Thanks for that , Stan !
I suspected that some guys that are wearing tires out might have this same problem.
Did you build your Air Command ?
I wonder why yours was so far off ? The kit was pretty much done for the builder.
Here is Azusa's site......http://www.azusaeng.com/wheels/wheelix.html
There is some good reading here......I never visited it before.
Hey Stan.......did you have the plastic wheels on your AC ?
I always wondered ...who came up with the AC brakes on those wheels ?

Chris, Do you fly off a grass strip or asphalt?

Used to use grass alot but now almost all concrete & asphalt.
Why ?

I figured the tires wouldn't wear out as fast on grass as they would asphalt. Just checking to see what you were flying off.

I think Stan has the real reason for tire wear.

Chris- I had the plastic wheels. I didn't build my Air Command. In my case, my excessive tire wear stopped immediately after I moved the suspension tubes forward. I was so used to how hard it pushed on concrete before, and how I could push it with a finger afterwards. Stan
