Hello,
I'll be travelling around the South tip of Florida (Miami, Key-west, Naples) in the last 2 weeks of August. Deviation towards Wauchula possible, although during the week.
Who lives down South or not too far North so we can meet up for a cool drink?
Kai.

Kai,
I'm in Bradenton (just north of Sarasota on the west coast). Unfortunately, I'll be back at work by then (I'm a teacher) and probably can't get to Wauchula on a week day. But when it gets closer give me a call and we'll see.

Florida in August; hot and humid but a paradise for entomologists.
The beginning of the hurricane season.

Wow,
you guys are amazing (although Chuck's evil chuckle stille echos on).
This is a set trip, but it includes 3 nights in Naples, so I can cut short here and head North, which I'll be planning now. I could go up to, say, Wimauma, find a place there and return next day to Naples.
So, Jim, I'd love to see you on the way to Key West.
Joe, love to see you in person one day, maybe not this time.
Gabor, if we could somehow meet, that would be awesome.
Mike, to see, where the Dominators breed would be fantastic.
Rick, I'm sort of passing your home, but have no idea when. So I would try to contact you.
Needless to say that all consumption, beverages and food, are on me.
Looking forward to see you all. If anything flies with rotors, that would be the cream topping.
Looking forward even more to the trip.
Thanks,
Kai.

Oh man, so close but still so far away.
The last two weeks of August, I'll try and blast out there for a day but it's going to be tough with all that's going on right now and Mentone but I'd love to meet you Kai. Your one of my favorite rotorheads!!

Kai, if you are able to visit RFD in Wimauma, I’ll meet you there.
I’d let you fly my gyro if it was a public use airport but Ernie’s strip is a privately owned airfield and liability concerns make that impossible.
In any case, if Ernie has recovered from Mentone, I imagine he’ll give you a ride in a 2-place Dominator.

If this happens let me know the day!!!
Ernie and Chuck are two of my heroes.

You probably know this already, Kai, but to get local weather, type the city and state in the address box like this:
Wauchula, FL
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Naples&state=FL&site=MFL&textField1=26.1447&textField2=-81.7947&e=1

I can't believe it, you guys rock!!!
I cannot believe this is going to be true! Of course you are my hero, too, Chuck.
And John, crossing the continent to meet me, I'm not sure I can live up to the expectation. And for sure this is not going to be last time I'm in the US, now that I know so many more wonderful people there.
I'll be in Wimauma August 25-26, how is that?
I'd love to try a non HTL machine (as you know, I'm Central-Europe-impaired). But legally I can only go in a 2-seater as a pupil, I guess. SPLs are not recognizes outside their countries of origin afaik.
Oh, Stan, I can drive night and day, but I don't think I'll make it to your place, I'll try harder next time. My wife also wants to see the Keys.
You guys are great,
see you soon,
Kai.

Ok, I walked down Lincoln Rd Mall and Ocean Drive, swam in the warm Ocean, rode an airboat, tickled an alligator and had a marvellous time. Heading South now.

OK, here they come. click to enlarge.
Our first hotel was in the second row behind the Ritz at SoBe Miami

I took an airoboat ride with a SC family. Here the same applies as in gyro-summer flying. If you cannot harness your smile, chew thoroughly and swallow slowly.
73379
tickled an alligator (no, not that big one)
73380
enjoyed the wildlife.
73381
With our convertible we headed South,
73382
Celebrated the sunset at Key West
73383
soaked our feet in luke-warm sea water
73384
and visited Jim and his lovely wife and mother in law. This guy is a hotshot with the welding gun.

I went under water
73386
found some big guys
73387
Then we traveled North to Naples, where the pelicans were plentiful and free of oil
73388
Visited Ernie and Connie and somehow Chuck escaped this photo. A great experience, we probably stole half a day of work from you people, sorry, but it was just too interesting.
73389
Round off our visit with Tampa
73390
73391
Also went by Thomas' place in Fort Myers
73392
And finally, with a tear in the eye, flew out again out of Miami.
This was the abridged version, of course there was much more to tell, but I don't want to bore you...
Kai.

oh, JR, I drove past your home, then. I must admit, I only stayed 1 hr. in Fort Myers, they had to turn off the lights in the museum to get rid of me.

I like your grasshopper photo, Kai.
As a small boy, my pals and I kept them as pets. We’d tie a length of sewing thread to one leg and stake them out so they could graze.
But I guess today’s video games are more exciting.

Kai, I didnt offer anything for you due to the fact I knew you would be up against the clock to make your pre-planned rounds. Next time.

Chuck, having cicadas of pets is quite common in China. With some education (i.e. poke and feed) you can make them "sing" on command. But you are correct, youngsters today rather go to war virtually.
